My Beginner BOLO List That Actually Moves eBay Inventory!
If you are just getting started on eBay, one of the biggest questions you probably have is simple. What actually sells fast? I remember asking myself that same question when I first started listing items around my house and trying to turn a quick profit. There is a learning curve, but once you understand what to look for, things start to click quickly.
In this post, I am going to walk you through my beginner friendly BOLO list. I will also explain what BOLO means and break down some common reseller terms so you feel more confident when sourcing products to flip for a profit. My goal is to help you find items that move quickly so you can build momentum and start seeing sales sooner rather than later.
What Does BOLO Mean in Reselling?
BOLO stands for “Be On the Lookout.” It is one of the most common phrases you will hear in the reseller world. When someone shares a BOLO item, they are telling you to keep your eyes open for something that tends to sell well or has good profit potential.
For beginners, a BOLO list is incredibly helpful because it gives you direction. Instead of guessing what might sell, you can focus on items that already have demand. Over time, you will develop your own BOLO list based on what works for you.

Common Reseller Terms You Should Know
Before we jump into what sells fast, I want to quickly cover a few terms you will see often. Understanding these will make everything else much easier.
Sell Through Rate
Sell through rate tells you how quickly an item sells. A high sell through rate means strong demand. If there are 100 sold listings and only 20 active listings, that is a great sign.
Comps
Comps are comparable sales. This is how you determine value on eBay. You look at what similar items have sold for, not what people are asking. The best way to find comps on eBay is to search for your specific item, then click “advanced search” and finally click “sold items.”
ASP or Average Selling Price
This is the average price an item sells for. It helps you decide if something is worth picking up.
STR or Sell Through Rate
You will see STR used interchangeably with sell through rate. Higher is better when you want fast sales.
Long Tail vs Fast Flips
Long tail items may take longer to sell but can bring higher profits. Fast flips are items that sell quickly, often at a lower price point but with steady volume.
My Beginner BOLO List for Fast Sales
These are categories and items that I consistently see move quickly. They are beginner friendly, easy to find, and have a broad buyer base.
Everyday Clothing That People Actually Wear
Clothing can be hit or miss, but some pieces sell fast when priced right and photographed well.
What to Look For
Basic brands that people already know and wear daily tend to move quickly. Think mall brands and workwear staples. These items retail for much higher, but people loves to save money on quality items. Larger sizes tend to sell faster as well.
- Nike athletic wear
- Lululemon leggings
- Athleta activewear
- Popular denim jeans styles
- Classic brands or Timeless brands
These are not always huge profit items, but they sell consistently. I like these for quick turnover and building feedback.
Why It Sells Fast
People search for these items regularly. They are replacing worn out pieces or looking for a deal on something they already love. If you price competitively, these items do not sit long.
Kids Items and Toys
This is one of my favorite categories because parents are always buying.
What to Look For
- Kids Clothes such as Janie & Jack, Hanna Andersson, and Gymboree
- Collectible dolls and accessories
- LEGO sets, especially retired ones
- Fisher Price Little People sets
- Disney toys and playsets
- Board games with all pieces included
Why It Sells Fast
Parents are often searching for specific items their kids want. If you have complete sets and clean items, you can get quick sales. I have had toys sell within hours when priced right.
Small Electronics and Accessories
Electronics can feel intimidating, but small items are a great place to start.
What to Look For
- Video game controllers
- Remote controls
- Headphones and earbuds
- Phone accessories
- Streaming devices
Why It Sells Fast
People are constantly replacing these items. Many buyers search for exact models, so if you list clearly with model numbers, you can attract fast buyers.
Home Goods and Kitchen Items
This category is full of hidden gems, especially if you are decluttering your own home.
What to Look For
- Name brand cookware
- Seasonal decor
- Stoneware and China
- Storage solutions
- Organization items
Why It Sells Fast
These items solve problems for buyers. Someone is always looking for a replacement coffee maker or a specific kitchen tool. Practical items tend to move faster than decorative ones.
Shoes That People Wear Every Day
Shoes are one of my favorite categories for fast flips.
What to Look For
- Running shoes in good condition such as Hoka and Brooks
- Comfort brands like Clarks or Birkenstock
- Kids shoes in lightly used condition
- Popular sneakers
Why It Sells Fast
Shoes wear out quickly, so people are always looking for replacements. If you provide clear photos of the soles and condition, buyers feel more confident and purchase faster.
Seasonal Items That Move Quickly
Timing matters on eBay, and seasonal items can sell very fast when listed at the right time.
What to Look For
- Christmas decor in the fall
- Halloween costumes in September
- Summer items in spring
- Back to school items in July and August
Why It Sells Fast
Buyers shop ahead of the season. If you list early, you can catch demand before the market becomes saturated.
Books That Have Demand
Not all books sell quickly, but some categories move very fast.
What to Look For
- Textbooks
- Popular children’s books
- Cookbooks
- Niche hobby books
Why It Sells Fast
Buyers often search for specific titles. If your book matches what they need and is priced competitively, it can sell quickly.
Health and Beauty Items
This category can be very profitable, but you need to be mindful of eBay policies.
What to Look For
- New and sealed products
- Brand name skincare
- Hair tools
- Makeup bundles
Why It Sells Fast
These are repeat purchase items. People run out and need replacements, so they are ready to buy.
Tips to Make Your Items Sell Faster
Even the best BOLO items will not sell if your listing is not strong. These tips can make a huge difference.
Use Clear Photos
Good lighting and clean backgrounds matter. I try to take multiple angles so buyers know exactly what they are getting.
Price Competitively
Look at comps and price slightly below or right in line with recent sales. If you want fast sales, do not price at the top of the market.
Write Strong Titles
Use as many of the 80 characters as possible. Include brand, size, color, and keywords buyers would search.
Respond Quickly
Fast responses can lead to faster sales. Buyers often message multiple sellers, and the first one to reply has an advantage.
Offer Shipping Options
Reasonable shipping costs and quick handling times can help you stand out.
How I Built My Own BOLO List
When I first started, I relied heavily on other resellers’ BOLO lists. Over time, I paid attention to what sold quickly for me. I started noticing patterns and built my own list based on real experience.
You can do the same thing. After each sale, ask yourself why that item sold. Was it the brand, the price, or the timing? This is how you refine your strategy and get better results.
Mistakes Beginners Make When Looking for Fast Sales
It is easy to get overwhelmed when you are starting out. Here are a few common mistakes I see.
Buying Without Checking Comps
Always check sold listings before you buy something to resell. This will save you from items that look good but have no demand.
Overpricing Items
It is tempting to aim high, but this can slow down your sales. If your goal is fast cash, price to move.
Ignoring Condition
Condition matters a lot. Be honest in your listings and avoid heavily damaged items unless you know they still have value.
Listing Too Slowly
Consistency matters. The more you list, the more chances you have to make sales.
Find Your Fast Selling Items
If you take anything away from this post, let it be this. You do not need to overcomplicate eBay when you are just starting out. Focus on simple, in demand items that people already buy every day. Use this BOLO list as a starting point and adjust based on what works for you.
The more you list and learn, the faster you will get at spotting great items. Before you know it, you will walk into a thrift store or look around your house and immediately see dollar signs. I hope you do well with this tip and start seeing those quick sales roll in soon.
